ACUPUNCTURE APPOINTMENT

What is an acupuncture treatment?

Acupuncture treatment is an insertion of very fine needles at particular points on the body, to prevent or treat illness or maintain good health. It is thought to stimulate the body’s ability to heal.

What will happen at the first appointment?

A complete diagnosis when the acupuncturist will take a full medical history and family history and carry out physical examination. Based on this information appropriate treatment will be selected for you.

How many treatments will I need?

Each patient responds differently to treatment. You will need, on average, 4-6 treatments before you can expect a noticeable improvement in your condition.

Does it hurt?

Unlike injection needles, acupuncture needles are very fine and not hollow. When the needle is inserted, the sensation is often described as a ‘tingling’ or ‘heavy’.

Is it safe?

All BAcC members observe Code of Practice which lays down strict standards on hygiene and safety approved by Department of Health.
